Paint Preparation
Surfaces are prepared, primed, and masked — most of a refinish's quality is decided here.
Refinish quality is mostly preparation: repairs are sanded and skimmed flat, primers applied and blocked, adjacent panels masked or prepared for blending. Shortcuts here show up as texture and edges later, so this stage gets the time it needs.
