Warranty
Every repair we deliver comes with written warranty terms, walked through with you at delivery — what's covered, for how long, and exactly how to make a claim.
Current warranty terms
Written limited warranty on workmanship and refinishing for as long as the original customer owns the vehicle; mechanical repair labor 12 months/12,000 miles; parts per their manufacturers' warranties. Full terms below.
Below are the complete written terms — the same document you receive at delivery. Summaries never override the written terms.
GEM Collision provides the following limited warranty on collision repairs performed and invoiced by GEM Collision at 7114 Laurel Canyon Blvd., North Hollywood, CA 91605. These terms are provided in writing with every repair and explained at delivery. Effective for repairs delivered on or after August 13, 2026.
What is covered
Workmanship: metal work, panel repair and replacement, structural repair labor, and reassembly performed by GEM Collision are warranted against defects in workmanship for as long as the original retail customer owns the vehicle.
Refinishing: paint and refinish work performed by GEM Collision is warranted against peeling, blistering, and cracking caused by application defects for as long as the original retail customer owns the vehicle. Normal weathering, fading from exposure, and damage from environmental fallout, stone chips, or improper washing are not application defects.
Mechanical repair labor performed as part of a collision repair is warranted for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Parts carry their respective manufacturers' warranties, which are separate from and in addition to this workmanship warranty. We will assist in presenting a parts warranty claim to the manufacturer or supplier.
What is not covered
- Damage from new accidents, road hazards, vandalism, or any cause occurring after delivery
- Rust or corrosion originating in areas GEM Collision did not repair, or resulting from subsequent damage
- Normal wear, deterioration, or failure of parts not installed by GEM Collision
- Repairs altered, disturbed, or attempted by anyone other than GEM Collision after delivery
- Damage resulting from misuse, neglect, racing or competition use, or failure to follow post-repair care guidance (including early washing guidance for fresh refinish work)
- Vehicles used for commercial livery where repair-order terms state otherwise; dealer-account units are warranted per the account's written terms
How to make a claim
Contact GEM Collision at (818) 475-9393 or collision@driveagem.com and provide your repair order number. Return the vehicle to GEM Collision for inspection before any corrective work is performed elsewhere — this warranty does not cover work done by other shops, and unauthorized intervention in the repaired area voids coverage for that area.
If a covered defect is confirmed, GEM Collision will repair the defect at no charge for parts and labor covered by these terms. This warranty is not transferable and applies only to the original retail customer named on the repair order.
General terms
This warranty gives you specific legal rights; you may also have other rights under California law, including under the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, which this warranty does not limit. Insurance-paid repairs are warranted to the vehicle owner regardless of who paid for the repair. Where a written repair order states different terms for a specific repair, the repair order governs.
What a collision repair warranty should actually mean
A repair warranty is only as good as its writing. That's why this page doesn't paraphrase: the complete written terms are published above and provided with every repair, walked through with you at delivery — what's covered, for how long, and exactly how a claim works. The one-line version: workmanship and refinishing are warranted for as long as the original customer owns the vehicle, mechanical repair labor for 12 months or 12,000 miles, and parts per their manufacturers. The written terms govern; ask anything unclear during your estimate.
There are really three layers of protection on a properly done repair, and it helps to know which is which. Our workmanship warranty covers the labor — the welds, the panel fit, the corrosion protection, the refinish. Parts carry their own manufacturers' warranties, separate from ours, which is one of several honest differences between part types explained in our OEM vs. aftermarket guide. And the documentation itself — measurements, scan reports, photos from the repair process — is what makes any warranty enforceable, because it proves what was done.
How to make a warranty claim painless
Keep the delivery paperwork — the repair order number on it is how status and history lookups work. If something about the repair ever seems off — a panel gap that grew, a finish flaw that appeared, a warning light that returned — call us or use the contact page first, before anyone else touches the area. Most concerns resolve with an inspection; the ones that need work get scheduled promptly, because a warranty visit is a promise being kept, not a favor.
Two things a warranty never covers, said plainly: new damage from a new incident (that's a new repair, and a new estimate), and wear that time does to every vehicle. The written terms define the lines precisely — which is exactly why we insist they be written.
Warranty questions before you commit
Smart questions to ask any body shop, including us: Is the warranty in writing, and can I see it before work begins? Does it transfer if I sell the car? What's excluded? Who performs warranty work — the same technicians? You'll find our answers direct, and if you're comparing shops, our FAQ and certifications page show the same philosophy: nothing claimed that can't be shown on paper.
Let's understand the damage and determine the next step.
Photos are enough to start. A written preliminary estimate, a clear explanation, and no pressure.
